GENUINE AFFECTION

It’s about that time I usually bid my day a bye with a sigh of satisfaction escaping my closed lips. It doesn’t actually escape, it involuntarily sets itself free. The day has been long and tiring and trying to cope with Eve’s misdemeanor. She is the first of our species to find out that all that glitters are illegal or unworthy. The whole humanity now is painfully toiling in order to pluck the fruits and accord hunger a decent send off.

I slide my tired body, carefully, as if it hurt or afraid to disturb a nocturnal creature who had made a sojourn in my bed, inside my sheets. Relief greeted me, accompanied by a muted sigh as the mind went back to the parting day, assessing the successes and the pitfalls that came along. Lessons appeared triumphant.

The day is never a day-well-spent when you do not wish a dearly beloved a good night. I have had trouble many mornings preceding the nights I slept without bidding her a good night. I forget on purpose (ask any man) but the questions you get the morning after only allow her to make assumptions because I have never answered them satisfactorily. Now am thinking of her. She has brought the real meaning of living, the real feel of love. She genuinely adores me and I do more than her.

As a fumbled with the keys of my phone, trying to mix words, in a bid to come up with a deep poem for her, the phone rang. I smiled as I read ‘sweetheart’ as I had saved her. The ringtone helped increase the pace of my heartbeat. It was a song that drove her to the point of ecstasy, of course after me. So many times she rang me, often when I am trying to text her, or when am reaching for my phone to call her. Love brings forth pleasant coincidence, the kind that you want to happen every day.

I really love her. The joy of my life is to see her happy always. I don’t anything or anybody to harm her because I’m her soldier ready to fight every war that life pit against us. Distance though has robbed us the chance to show the affection eye to eye, hold each other close and our breathes being swallowed by our silent whispers heard far away. She is the realest thing I hold with utmost care like a treasure.

I picked up the phone and her soft voice drove me to world that surpassed the abundance of the bliss heaven had on offer. She tickled me into frenzy with an unsettling sensation going through my body like a ripple. I wanted her there and then. If the urge would have enabled men to grow wings I would have been the first one after Daedalus and Icarus, from the tales we read while growing up.

I listened as she talked making her know I was paying attention. Silence sometimes prompts one to make an inquiry if they are speaking alone or otherwise. What’s more beautiful than being missed by somebody you love? What’s the most awesome thing in the world than being important to somebody and being treasured more than you do to your own self? It’s a feeling that transcends everything.

The lengthy talk is always brought to a denouement by good night wishes and the sweet dreams. The byes aren’t my cup of tea. I always conclude a conversation with a ‘take care’. I never know why but I always want her to great care not dream of nightmares.

As the sound of the phone hanging up came through, I was plunged into my own world. I stared at the text I was about to send; my sweetheart, you are a rare being in the world for showing me what it means to love and I will give you my genuine affection…….it sounds like a teenage love letter but that was the message I intended to pass her, plus a couple of hugs and kisses, toppling with I love you. I drifted off holding my phone.

I woke up in the morning to find everything deleted except GENUINE AFFECTION on the text. I smiled knowing there was more truth than those two words.

Jose Mourinho KNOWS no matter how good you are, you cannot win every competition

In any football season, there are alot of titles to fight for. In order of prestige, there are the European Champions league, the domestic title ( EPL in case England), the Europa league, the FA, the Capital One cup, the Super Cup, the Club world cup and many more.
This season, Chelsea lost the Super Cup to Bayern Munich. Chelsea is no longer in the Cpital one cup and the FA. However, the prestigious West London club still tops the EPL log and is still very much in contention for the holy grail of European soccer, the Uefa Champions league!
Chelsea was knocked out of the FA on Saturday. I usually stay off this forum on most weekends so that I can concentrate as much as possible on family, rhumba and the beer. I am poor at multi tasking.
It explains why I was so surprised to find some 53 hate messages in my inbox, taunting me about Chelsea’s loss to Manchester City in the FA clash. As if that was not bad enough, I have read a report about the match in the Daily Nation suggesting that Manchester City utterly outplayed Chelsea and restored their status as front favourites to win the EPL.
To be fair, Manchester City is a good side. More about just how good they are will be revealed on tuesday when they meet Messi, Neymar and Co. In the meantime, I am compelled to respond to a situation I had intended to ignore.
Mourinho is a good football manager. Like every other manager, he knows that no matter how good you are, you cannot win every competition. It helps to prioritize which competition you want to win. It is why some managers send out their second string side to play in competitions which they dont fancy. When they send out the first or senior squad, it is to give them a practice session.
That is precisely what happened on Saturday. Granted, Chelsea sent out the first team squad to battle it out with City, but it was to give the first team a practice session ahead of our European commitments. The FA is also a cup we are in love with, having won it so many times, so it is proper that we give it the respect it deserves even when we are not keen to win it this time. But how else would we be keen to win a competition in which Wigan Athletic is the reigning champions? How can we risk fatigue in a season that has produced the toughest competion for the EPL yet? How can we prioritise the FA when we want to win the EPL and the UCL?
No one likes to lose but on Saturday, I saw our boys come out of the pitch at the end of the match smiling. I guess the were amused with the wild celebrations by City players. They needed something to uplift them after that chastening loss to Chelsea some thirteen days ago in the EPL.
City does not have many fans locally. I guess after they won the league some two or three seasons ago, they got some one thousand or so fans. However, the handful of fans were not alone in their celebrations locally because they were buoyed by the celebrating Arsenal masses. Arsenal fans were right to celebrate because they knew that Chelsea, rather than City were their biggest threat to winning their most realistic silverware this season: the FA.
Indeed fate, preferential refereeing by Howard Webb and atrocious finishing by Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling helped Arsenal to breeze past Liverpool in the other encounter on Sunday night. I hope each of the Arsenal fans went for heart check up because the way Liverpool put them on the edge for about fifty minutes cannot be good for the heart.
At Chelsea, we can now happily say we wish our neighbours from the North of the Capital well as they slug it out with City, Everton/Swansea and the others in the FA. I urge Arsenal to give it their all because it is the most realistic chance at silverware after eight long years!

LOVE STORY

I am a 19 year old girl and have been close friends with this guy (he'll be turning 20 this coming weekend) for more than 5 years. THE UNANSWERED CALL

The advent of technological advancement especially in the telephone sector has brought forth unprecedented freedom to communicate with people millions of mile away from the vicinity. If the present world would be reverted to those far off centuries, many people wouldn’t make it. Writing a letter and waiting for a response weeks or months later is a grueling experience in the current world. The people who are making the most of the mobile technology are those in love and reside at the ends of the world−so far away from each other. When thoughts of them provoke their senses, they simply dial their numbers and within seconds they are giggling sheepishly like they are together there and then. But it is always a short lived feeling because once the phone is hung, a gnawing feeling of loneliness settles inside them. Despite all these advancement many people, including the writer would wish for the ancient times. Communication was hard though but it was genuine. A lover would dedicate his or her time to pour his feeling onto a piece of paper, undistracted. It often was a solitary endeavor that always ensured a masterpiece. One would be sure that he or she was all alone. What of this technology? It doesn’t guarantee privacy. A lover yonder can text you, one arm on the phone and another caressing somebody whom you think it should be you. Worse still, somebody can take a few minutes and feign a call of nature only to make a call. You there happily waiting for somebody you are unaware you share them. It’s a thought that should be reserved for another day. A lover’s thoughts may wander to those days they had together; the giggles, the laugh, the touches and the love they made. Little is of use of the word resistance and he or she finds himself overpowered by the memory. Their voice would quench their desire and the phone comes in handy. At the other end, they may be busy or in a situation that doesn’t permit receiving the call. Woe unto you if you find yourself in that situation. Explanations as to why you wouldn’t answer the phone call are demanded, often by sobs, and sometimes curses and you find yourself pinned against the wall. You try to explain until you give up. It’s one of the hardest things to try to defend a yourself against a will forcing a lie to be the truth. It’s hard to tell. A man’s dread is a lover’s wrath, ignited by an unanswered call. He dreads it more than his boss. The beginning of an explanation ends before he thinks. It always boils down to one thing you are cheating on me. Truths are dismissed as excuses

I bet no one wants to be greeted by ghastly looking faces every time they look at their faces in the mirror. No one wants to feel a rough face every other day. Girls are more conscious of how they will be seen than boys and teenagers more than grownups, perhaps due the fact that they have learnt to accept it as it is.

Pimples or acne are small skin lesions or inflammations on the skin. They appear on various spots of the body especially in teens or adolescents. That is one of the signs of growing up, caused mainly by the hormonal changes in the body.

However, pimples can be caused by other factors apart from the hormones. The use of cosmetics may catalyze the inflammation of the skin due to the clogging of the skin pores. In the pursuit of beauty you may stumble upon pimples that were not there in the first place. Pimples can also be caused by poor hygienic conditions

To some people pimples can dent their image a great deal. They may even start hating themselves especially if they are a subject of constant ridicule. Their self esteem and the feeling of self worth dwindle and disappear. Those people may tend to keep to themselves because they don’t want to be seen.

In the process of growing up, pimples will disappear and the smoothness of the skin returns. But some may persist even beyond the age and some may develop at any age. In this regard one has to seek remedies to curb them.

There are various ways to treat the pimples. They can be home treatment methods, which usually entails the use of aloe vera plant. A person just cuts the plant ant apply the mucous-like substance on the acne or pimple. The plant is available readily or one can plant it where he can use it whenever needs arise.

Other methods of treatment may include over the counter medication, where someone can purchase the drugs and later apply as per the conditions of use. There are also oral antibiotics which curb the growth of bacteria. Though pimples are not caused by bacteria, it can accelerate its growth due the vulnerability of the skin to infection once the pimple grows. They can be used daily for four to six months then gradually after it has healed.

Above all, hygiene is the most important in the prevention of pimples. A clean skin does not provide conditions for the growth of pimples. Ensure a clean skin at all times in order to have a pimple free skin.
